FROM THE PRESS
Mia Algoet maakt realistisch/impressionistische schilderijen, die hedendaags aanvoelen dankzij haar keuze van onderwerp en uitsnede. Ze haalt haar inspiratie uit de dingen die haar raken: mens en natuur, waarbij "licht" als rode draad doorheen haar werk loopt.
Ze volgde haar opleiding schilderkunst, levend model en keramiek o.a. in het Sint-Lucasinstituut te Gent.
Ze nam deel aan diverse tentoonstellingen en veilingen, en werd in 2013 laureaat van de wedstrijd "de curieuze collectie," met in de jury Lieve Blancquaert, Wouter Rawoens, Philippe Van Cauteren en Michaël Borremans.
Haar atelier ligt aan de rand van de stad, maar via haar Gallery op de Reep zoekt ze bewust dialoog en interactie op. Bezoekers zijn er welkom om het werk en de maker te ontmoeten.
